Did you know?
Over the years numerous donations were made by business community’s, entrepreneurs, schools, consumers, local communities and various organizations, for which we are very grateful. We also receive and redistribute unsaleable food and grocery items from farmers, manufacturers and retailers. This includes product that is out of specification, close to date code, has incorrect labeling or damaged packaging as well as excess stock and deleted lines.
Over the last couple of years, we have been able to increase both the number and size of the donations in kind, as well as the financial support given to us, so that we are in a better position to achieve our goals.
Unfortunately we still need your help. We have many fantastic donors that provide us with fresh food on a weekly basis, but we are in need of non-perishable food as well. With these donations, we are able to build up a stock of non-perishable food. This enables us to add non-perishable healthy food to the food packages of our clients.
Our mission is to create a caring community and to stop food waste.
How can we do that? By sharing food resources.
• To distribute food packages to those requiring assistance
• To accept donations of food and monetary donations for our operating costs
• To collect, inspect and store food for distribution in a safe way
• To serve as a common point of contact for various segments of the Amsterdam community
• In the development of our food hampers, we seek to provide our clients with food that supports a healthy diet
• Work collaboratively with local governments, communities and the food industry to reduce food waste
We collect food packages for the Amsterdam Voedselbank. If you wish to participate, we provide you with a set of ‘vul-mij’ (‘fill me‘) boxes. These boxes are as big as a double shoebox. They are easily distributed and will be collected when filled with non-perishable food. If you have 10 boxes or more, our volunteer drivers will come to you to pick them up. A smaller number of boxes (less than 10) can be directly delivered to our Distribution Center.
